How do I setup my Email Software to send and receive email?

Step by Step instructions for setting up email programs:

Standard Settings for Windows Hosting (*Standard, Premium, Corporate):

•POP3 Server: mail.needa.com
•Account / Username : username@yourdomain.com

•SMTP Server: Your ISP's SMTP mail server goes here. (mail.yourisp.com or smtp.yourisp.com)

Standard Settings for cPanel Hosting (Budget and *Standard):

•POP3 Server: mail.yourdomain.com
•Account / Username : username

•SMTP Server: Your ISP's SMTP mail server goes here. (mail.yourisp.com or smtp.yourisp.com)

Please setup your email software as described above.

If you have trouble sending email via your ISP's smtp server, please check that you have the correct smtp server name and that you have followed their directions for the smtp portion of the setup.

If you find you are unable to use your ISP's smtp server for some reason, we do have the following options:

1. Try our WebMail messaging server ( http://mail.needa.com )
[Only available for Standard Hosting accounts or Higher]

If you are familiar with Hotmail, YahooMail! or any of the other popular web-based email services, "Need A Dot Com?"'s mail server offers many of the same features. You can now send and receive email from your account using any standard web browser, anytime, anywhere (even while traveling).

2. Use SMTP AUTHENTICATION with "Need A Dot Com?"'s mail server

This setup uses your email address and password to enable mail relay from our mail server. Make sure you have your software configured as above and then follow these instructions to change to smtp authentication. If prompted, use your full email address and email password to authenticate.

*Please note: You will not be able to use this option if your ISP is blocking port 25. This is the universal port for sending email through the internet. Many ISP's are blocking this port for security reasons which forces you to use their SMTP mail server.

For Outlook , under TOOLS -> ACCOUNTS. Select your email account and click on the PROPERTIES button. Under the SERVERS tab, check the option:
'My server requires authentication'. Click OK and exit the email accounts settings.

Feel free to give it a try. If you are having difficulty configuring SMTP Authentication, you still have the less complicated options of using your dial-up ISP's SMTP server or our Webmail service for sending outgoing mail.
